Dr. Takeharu Yamanaka has served as Mayor of Yokohama since 2021. Prior to his tenure as Mayor, he was Dean of the Graduate School of Data Science and Professor of Biostatistics at Yokohama City University. He represents East Asia on the Board of the GCoM (Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy) and is a member of OECD Champion Mayors for Inclusive Growth, where he advances Yokohama’s leadership in climate action and sustainable urban development toward net-zero emissions.
