Ahead of COP26, city leaders are coming together at Daring Cities 2021 to advance and define their demands for the global climate conference in November. Daring Cities is calling for multilevel action and collaboration to be included in the goals of COP26 and advocating for holistic local action to tackle the climate emergency. This requires circular development to be part of the equation.
Johan Rockström from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research will link his work on the planetary boundaries to local climate action during the plenary Daring cities and regions leading by example. Finally, the session Daring local leadership for ambitious climate action will see the participation of Ted Wheeler, Mayor of the City of Portland (United States) who will present on his city´s work to address consumption-based emissions.
