Implement: Facilitating on-the-ground action
Creating a vision for change is one thing, putting that vision into practice is another. ICLEI helps make circularity a reality in cities by providing stakeholder and practice area specific technical assistance and advice to support on-the-ground demonstration actions, including pilot projects, as well as later stages of initiative rollout.
                                                                                    Implement

The ACE Africa project aims to support the growth of circular economy businesses in Africa. Circular economy is a growing area of interest for achieving sustainability across multiple sectors, and it is clear that, in Africa, the private sector is leading the transition to a circular economy. With a focus on the intersecting areas of food, health and climate change, this project will guide entrepreneurs, and new start-ups through an incubation programme and provide a platform for exposure to, and interaction with, mature circular economy businesses, funders and government officers. The desired outcomes are to support a number of businesses to mature, to contribute to improved innovation ecosystems for circular economy, and to provide guidance to local governments on how to improve or support innovative businesses that enhance circular development.

                                City Practitioners Handbook Series
The City Practitioners Handbook series aims to support local governments which have already identified priority sectors or materials they wish to apply circular economy principles to. The series offers sector-specific guidance to municipal staff/practitioners in identifying practical circular economy interventions in collaboration with stakeholders from business, academia, civil society, and more.

The CityLoops project, funded by the EU and led by ICLEI Europe, is developing a series of innovative procedures, approaches and open access tools to embed circularity in construction and demolition waste (CDW) and organic waste (OW) planning and decision-making in European cities.

The CIRC-PACK project aims to increase circularity in the plastic packaging value chain from polymer production to end-of-life disposal through the development of bio-based and recyclable plastics and improvement of recycling processes.

                                PlastiCircle Consortium
The PlastiCircle consortium is promoting a transition towards a circular economy by rethinking the transformation of waste into valuable products at the European level. Project partners are reinventing the plastic packaging treatment process to obtain higher recycling rates, better quality and cheaper secondary raw materials, and to promote valorization within the same value chain.
