Urban NEXUS Case Story: Urban Agriculture

Finding Multi-purpose Urban NEXUS Solutions through Collaborative Action

In 2005, the city of Amman established an Urban Agriculture Office, which works to facilitate farming activities on rooftops and under-used, fragmented land in the city. The Office coordinates multiple initiatives connected to food security, recycling, and water conservation with other municipal departments as well as with urban farmers and community members.

The Urban NEXUS project 2013-2014 was funded by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). ICLEI, as implementing partner of the Urban NEXUS project, is responsible for the content of this case story.
